new single [23.12.00]

Muse's next single will be... (drum roll please) Plug In Baby!
It'll be released on Februari 26th, and will be available on two CDs, cassette and limited edition seven-inch (this one will be available on March 5th)

The single was produced by David Bottrill (Tool, Deus, A Perfect Circle) and Muse, and mixed by the band with John Cornfield, who has previously worked with Supergrass and Bluetones.

B-Sides will be two new songs called "Tesseract" and "Policing The Jackson Funk". Please note and hate that the last song originally had the delicious title "Dark Shines" and is now re-named... grrrr!

To hear the studio recording of "Plug In Baby", listen to Steve Lamacq's Evening Session (Radio 1) on Januari 1st. The show starts at 7pm (GMT) and you can listen to it through www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/

Or if you want to be totally cool and have Muse's latest single as your fone-ringtone, go to the multimedia section. hehe. :P

Natural Disaster
New Born
Dark Shines
A-Political
Bliss
Policing the Jackson funk
Razorblades + Glossy Magazines
[which was also known as Host no thrills for a while].

In October they're off to tour Japan and Australia, and after that they'll continue recording in November, with John Leckie, who also produced the first album along with Paul Reeve. (With who they might record some more in Januari)

The album is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2001.
The first new single release will be in Januari, and is most likely to be a track called Plug In Baby. You can hear this song on the sound files page.

          Showbiz gold - July 00

Worldwide Showbiz sold over 300.000 copies.

          CD releases - July 00

In England the next single will be a re-release of Muscle Museum, with new b-sides, and a new video...

Matthew about the re-release:
"Well because the first two or three singles sold a couple of thousand each and the last two, Sunburn and Unintended sold over 20k each. So to most people we have only released two singles... apart from the early fans, but we will put B-sides in there. And we are doing a new video, it's going to be a compilation of live footage, something on the lines of Lithium by Nirvana."

At the end of the year [November - December] the band will start recording the new album. The first new song is most likely to be released Januari.

New single, Unintended, will be released on June 5th, and will be out on 2 CD's and 7" vinyl. B-Sides are said to be a live version of Hate this and I'll love you, the video to 'Unintended', and a new song called Recess [lyrics are on the lyrics page]

The Uninteded video shows shomehow liquid looking people twisting around eachother, and was directed by the same director as Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun. It was chosen video of the week by the Melody Maker.

A boxed set with all the singles and some unreleased live songs (acoustic at Oui FM France) will be released in France on May 30th.

The new issue of the Australian Juice magazine features an interview with Matthew. There is also an interview in the July issue of Total Guitar, about songwriting, guitar technics and Matthew's new guitar:

"I bought a guitar with speakers built in it, just because it's portable. The neck is still the same length and it's got a clean and distortion sound; you can get feedback from the distortion which is funny when you're queueing up for a plane, or walking around"
