[words & images taken from melody maker - video of the week] Muse have come up with a video every bit as fraught as the single itself, by using the classic horror film fear of mirrors.  a babysitter is sitting on a sofa with a young boy, who is all ready for bed in his pyjamas. leaving him to watch television, she slowly walks upstairs to the master bedroom...  opening the wardrobe, she looks through the clothes and slips something into the pocket of her jeans. reflected in the double wardrobe doors, the band suddenly appear dressed entirely in black... as she walks to the main mirror with a string of pearls to try around her neck, she suddenly notices Muse behind her. turning around, she discovers that the band are not in the room with her, only in the mirror...  she clutches at her face and her ears, scared as the singer Matt sings "sunburn" to her creeply. in the living room, the little boy has noticed the noise coming from the bedroom and starts to climb the stairs. terrified, the babysitter throws an ornament at the mirror, cracking it into pieces. when the boy enters the room and looks at the mirror, she is trapped inside and there is no sign of her in the real room..... |
